Lets look at this frame kit in detail.

Kit consists of 4 separate arms, two bootom plates and aluminum bracket, aluminum standoffs, top plate and screws. A small battery strap is included also.

Four arms intersect in the middle and lock each other pretty well (note the lowest plate is missing for the demonstration only).

View with assembled lower bottom plate.

Both bootom plates between the arms forms the sandwich which is additionally reinforced with the red aluminum bracket and holds the arms very strong. This construction lets to easily change any broken arm just by unscrewing only 3 screws.

Inside the frame you can fit the stack with 20x20mm mount hole pattern.

Stack height is only 18mm. So there is tight inside. Only two levels stack fits.

Arms are exactly 3mm thick. Strong enough.

Top and bottom plates are 1.5mm thick.

The distance between the front standoffs is 21.8mm

The biggest issue with this frame is the absence of the camera mount. There is no side brackets, so if you want to install some Runcam/Foxeer micro sized camera, you either need to print some extra brackets for mounting in to this frame or think of some other creative way of mounting the camera. Also the standoffs are too short to fit the Runcam/Foxeer camera. You nee at least 20-22mm sized standoffs.

The maximum size of the propeller is about 66mm, so 2.5″ inch props should fit to this frame.

Assembed frame weight is 18 grams

Supplied battery strap is very short and can be used only with small lipos.

Motor mount hole patterm is 9x9mm, so motors sized 1104-1108 should fit to this frame.

Some more photos of the frame.

PROS

  • Very cheap (less than 10$)
  • Strong 3mm arms
  • Arms can be easily changed

CONS

  • No camera mounting options
  • Stack heigh is too low for Runcam/Foxeer micro cameras to fit.
  • Provided battery strap is pretty useless

Full Speed BAT-100 frame review http://www.dzskam.com/reviews/full-speed-bat-100-frame-review/ http://www.dzskam.com/reviews/full-speed-bat-100-frame-review/#respond Mon, 11 Dec 2017 07:15:08 +0000 http://www.dzskam.com/?p=2562 Let’s take look at the BAT-100 quadcopter frame from Full Speed. It is 100mm (actually it is slightly bigger – 103mm) sized frame. It is revised frame, designed for new Sunnysky 0705 motors. The earlier version was made for Racerstar 0705 ones, but these motors were having quality and performace issues and were discontinued afterwards.

The bottom plate thickness is 1.5mm

and the top plate is 0.8mm thickness.

The distance between the bottom plate and top plate is 18mm. Two storey FC tower fits perfectly.

There is a room of about 25 mm for flight controller and ESC stack

Camera max width is 17.9 mm.

The weight of the complete frame is 7.7 grams.

Frame has 3D printed camera mount for small AIO camera. Camera mount is angled.

The motor mount is suitable for motors with 6.5-6.6 mm mounting holes spacing. Motors with smaller mount pattern, like 0705 motor from Racerstar or Boldclash will not fit this motor mount.

Sunnysky 0705 motors weight only 3 grams and have really long wires.

Flight controller mount holes pattern is 16×16 mm

On the bottom plate there are two tabs for battery rubber band.

Assembled but empty frame:

A video review of this frame [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_srHBkaKNI]:

This is the one of the lightest and fastest frames for 1S brushless quadcopters. Can be purchased at a price starting from $6.99 from here:

Review: Realacc BlackBird 205 frame http://www.dzskam.com/reviews/review-realacc-blackbird-205-frame/ http://www.dzskam.com/reviews/review-realacc-blackbird-205-frame/#respond Sun, 20 Aug 2017 10:29:23 +0000 http://www.dzskam.com/?p=1664 Review of the RealAcc BlackBird 205 (also called BlackBird 208 or 210 mm) frame with assembly instructions.

Frame kit contents: 4pcs of 4mm arms, arms intersection plate, bottom and top plate, 2pcs of side plate, aluminium standofs, M3 bolts, nylon standofs, action cam holder plates, 4pcs of landing pads, battery holder plate with rubber bumpers, battery strap and basic Matek PDB board.

First impression: the CNC cut of the frame parts is ok, but the finishing is terrible – there are very sharp edges on the carbon parts. Several examples of the rough edges:

You can see carbon fiber exposed and sticking out of the cut holes:

You should take extreme care while working with this frame, because frame carbon fiber particles are dangerous for your lungs and skin. My skin got irritant and became very itchy while I have assembled it for the first time. My advice is to sand the edges with some wet sanding surface while wearing protective gloves and wash the frame and everything after the work. So basicly do the finishing work by yourself.

There are no assembly instructions supplied with the kit. I will try to describe the assembly process in the detail.

Frame build starts by assembling the bottom plate and arms with the longes supplied screws:

Special notice we should take at this point – do you see the gap between the arms where they should intersect? This is the major flaw of the manufacturing process. These arms supposed to be cut so tight than there would be not a single gap, but instead there is a lot of the free play in the arms because of this gap.

Nex add the middle plate and fasten the inner screws with nylon standofs:

And outer screws with purple aluminium spacers:

Next assemble the side plates to the top plate in this way:

Attach the assembled canopy to the bottom plate:

You can assemble the additional HD action cam mount, but it is not necessary and you can save a few grams:

At least 2 long (M3x12mm) screws are missing in the frame kit, so you need to find some longer screws to complete the cam mount build.

Weight of the action camera mount is 7.3 g.

There is not much height for the stack, so only abou two storey stack:

Weight of the frame without HD?action camera mount is 75g:

Weigh of the complete frame is 83?g:

Supplied screws have only 8 pcs of M3x12mm screws while frame needs at least 12 pcs of them. Plenty of the M3x5mm spare screws:

There is one part left unused and I dont know where should I put it. If someone knows, please leave your suggestion in comments.

Some photos of the assembled frame:

Complete frame view:

According to the rumors there will be a 6mm arm upgrade kit available for this frame in the nearest future. It will be way more durable with 6mm arms. And a spare arms are the must for this frame. Will update this review once upgrade/spare arms will be available.

GOOD

  • Good looking frame;
  • Narrow arms provide less air resistance;
  • Very light frame (can be stripped to 75g);
  • Easy assembly;

BAD

  • Arms are not cut precise, so there is a free play in the intersection;
  • Carbon finishing is very bad, need to sand and clean the carbon;
  • Some long screws are missing in the kit;
  • No spare arms are available (so far);

Realacc Martian_S 220mm Lightweight frame http://www.dzskam.com/news/realacc-martian_s-220mm-lightweight-frame/ http://www.dzskam.com/news/realacc-martian_s-220mm-lightweight-frame/#respond Mon, 15 May 2017 14:02:06 +0000 http://www.dzskam.com/?p=1144 Bangood has listed new Realacc Martian series frame – Martian_S 220mm. It is the newer version of the well known Martian II frame, which is the clone of the well known?ImpulseRC Alien 5″ frame.

The main improvement is the new type of composite sandwiced carbon fiber parts. This new CF is made of the three layers. The top and the bottomn part has regular carbon fiber layers and the middle part is some light “foam” insert to lighten the structure while maintaining the same or at least almost the same strength. So the whole frame is lighter –?122g versus?155g of the MartianII and versus?144g of the original ImpulseRC Alien 5″.

Specification:
Brand name: Realacc
Item name: 220mm Frame Kit
Wheelbase: 220mm
